Please be aware that Dr Digesu s scans are aimed to check fetal movements, fetal cardiac activity and growth. Mr Digesu’s scans are not aimed to detect any fetal anatomical abnormalities. For this reason, Dr Digesu will suggest to have more detailed scans during the first trimester (12 weeks scan), at 20-23 weeks (anomaly scan) and at 28-32 weeks in a specialist Fetal Medicine Centre. 

Dr. Digesu recommends that you have: 1. the Non-invasive prenatal screening test (NIPT) as well as the nuchal scan which is combined with a blood test to screen for anomalies such as Downs syndrome around 11-13 weeks; 2. a detailed anomaly scan around 20-24 weeks and 3. a fetal wellbeing scan around 32-34 weeks in a specialist Fetal Medicine Centre.

Following your initial antenatal appointment, if you wish to be booked for an integrated package of private Consultant obstetric care, a deposit of 50% of the agreed fee is required to be paid immediately on booking. The final balance of the fees will be due at 34 weeks. If you are not continuing under Dr. Digesu’s care, a charge will be made for the Obstetrics initial consultation.

If you have a medical insurance that covers pregnancy and delivery, we can deal directly with your insurance company. Some insurance companies may offer antenatal cover. If this is the case, Dr. Digesu is happy to liaise with your insurer provided if you give us full details of your policy number and authorisation code. Please liaise closely with your insurer beforehand to determine the level of cover they are willing to authorise as shortfalls for the consultant’s fees are common. We will always check to make sure you have adequate cover. If you are from overseas, we will need a Letter of Guarantee for payment, confirming that you have insurance cover and up to what level. However, most insurance companies do not cover miscarriage or pregnancy care unless there is a significant complication (such as Caesarean Section), and even then they will only cover a proportion of the total fee. For this reason, Dr. Digesu only undertakes private pregnancy care on the basis that you settle his account directly and in full, therefore all accounts must be settled in advance of any claim. He is happy to issue a receipt, to complete an insurance form and to provide any relevant information in support of a claim that you may make to your insurance company for reimbursement of a proportion of the fees related to a complication of pregnancy or delivery. If in doubt you should discuss details of your pregnancy cover with your own insurance company whose decision is final.
